Call for Art Research Participants

The National Veterans Resource Center Gallery in the Daniel and Gayle D’Aniello Building on the Syracuse University campus announces a call for research participants. Individuals will take part in a private viewing of a new art exhibit, make artwork, and have their artwork displayed in the gallery. All materials are provided and no formal experience with art making is required to participate.

Participants should be individuals 18 years of age or older who have not served in the military. The study will explore the impact of making and viewing art on perceptions of military service and the veteran experience. The study's goal is to increase understanding of how assumptions and beliefs about military service and the veteran experience may shift through an artistic exchange between veterans and civilians.

Participants will be asked to attend a 2 ½ hour workshop held in the National Veterans Resource Center art gallery. The workshop will include a private viewing of the current exhibit of veteran artwork. Workshop participants will also be asked to make artwork in response to the exhibit. They will be invited to have this artwork on display in the gallery for the duration of the exhibit.
