View, the Center of Arts and Culture in Old Forge, New York will host a two-day, Hand-Built Plates Workshop with the first day starting on Monday, September 14th, 2020 and the second day occurring on Monday, September 21st, 2020.

Instructor Carol Marie Vossler will teach basic hand-building skills to make four sandwich sized slump mold plates, utilizing a wax resist decoration technique.

During the September 14th session, students will learn how to drape and shape clay using molds (wet versus set), make a template, surface treatment and design, and wax resist/glaze bisque ware. The September 21st class will be a session focused on finishing each piece, with a demonstration on underglaze, wax resist application, and glazing techniques.

Choose between two class times: September 14th from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and September 21st from 9:00 AM to 11:00AM; or September 14th from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM and September 21st from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

No previous experience with clay is necessary. The cost of the class $65 or $60 for members. Space is limited to six students and pre-registration is required. Masks are required at all times.

Carol Marie Vossler is a professional artist and art educator. She is a certified art integration specialist and has taught the studio arts for 21 years. She earned degrees in forestry from Paul Smith’s College, a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Plattsburgh State University and a Master of Fine Arts from Syracuse University. She is the Founder of BluSeed Studios in Saranac Lake, New York.
