Pack a blanket or lawn chair and join The Art Thing Collaborative for THE WIZ outdoors on the big screen OUTSIDE FRANKFORT FREE LIBRARY in FRANKFORT.


THE WIZ (1978) this throwback is a vibrant musical fantasy that reimagines “The Wizard of Oz” through a soulful urban adventure as Dorothy journeys through a magical world to find her way home!


This family-friendly community screening is part of The REEL Thing: A Free Outdoor Movie Series Along the Canal, traveling across five canal towns in Herkimer County. We’re bringing movies back to the way they’re meant to be experienced: together, under the summer sky, with neighbors, families, friends, and kids of all ages.


All screenings are FREE and open to the public!

Think you can make it to all five movies? Anyone who attends all five screenings will become an honorary member of The REEL Thing Club and receive a special series award at the end of the summer.

Whether you grew up with The Wiz or are seeing it for the first time, come enjoy a relaxed night of adventure, imagination, and big-screen movie magic. Expect community spotlight moments, free popcorn while supplies last, subtitles for accessibility, and that shared moviegoing feeling we don’t get enough of anymore.
