Oct. 20- SHAKE HANDS WITH THE DEVIL

(1959) James Cagney plays an academic at the College of Surgeons in Dublin who turns into a die-hard opponent of the 1922 Treaty. American=made film, unusually, not on the side of the Republicans. Sir Michael Redgrave plays a character called "The General", unmistakably based on Michael Collins. Shot on location with many familiar Irish faces in supporting roles. A fast moving entertainment; did excellent business in North America in year of release.
