Arts Showcase Fund
CNY Arts is excited to announce a new program possibility in partnership with WCNY: the Arts Showcase '21! Submit using the form below.
Deadline: Wednesday, December 16, 2020 by 11:59 PM
Eligible Counties: Cayuga, Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, and Oswego
As part of the COVID-19 Arts Impact Fund, CNY Arts would like to award Restart or Resiliency grants for arts, culture, and heritage sites capable of adapting their programming for distribution on televised and/or streaming content platforms in order to create access for residents throughout the region during these challenging times.
To better assess programming possibilities, CNY Arts needs to hear from you. We are seeking Letters of Interest from our constituents to determine interest and feasibility for an Arts Showcase Series in 2021. Please submit using the form below.
In your letter, please consider the following, and respond in as much detail as possible using the form below:
- The name of your organization, mission, and service model
- A synopsis of a show, event, or arts venue (heritage site, gallery, museum, etc.) which may lend itself to televised adaptation
- Description of the intended audience (programming hours, viewer demographic)
- Production budget, including production funding that has been committed
- Can the event/production be filmed live and broadcast? Will it need to be pre-recorded?
- Considerations (i.e. fees) pertaining to rights, licensing, and broadcast (and possible rebroadcast)
- Where is the event planned to be produced? Can it be produced in-studio at WCNY or only on location?
- Were you planning to produce this event in 2021, whether there is an Arts Showcase opportunity or not?
Letters of Interest should be no more than 1 1/2 pages in length.
FAQ - Please Read!
Will the Showcase Grant conflict with other CNY Arts grants for 2021?
No. This potential fund is separate from government regrants of CNY Arts. You may apply for this grant and it will not impact other Decentralization or Onondaga County grant programs.
Can I apply if my organization is outside of the seven counties?
We can only accept applications from organizations and artists that have permanent residence in Cayuga, Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, and Oswego counties.
I am on a county border, may I still apply?
Unfortunately, no. Please refer to the preceding question.
We work with organizations in the seven counties, may we apply?
You may have an organization based in one of the seven counties serve as the lead applicant. They may partner with organizations outside of the seven county region.
Will grant recipients receive a copy of their taped / recorded material?
Yes - rights permitting.
If an applicant already has a pre-recorded product, would WCNY consider airing it?
Yes, although this may vary depending on the nature of the material.
How often will each Arts Showcase grant recipient air?
Each project funded by the Arts Showcase grant will air once on WCNY.
Will the grant recipient retain ownership of the original material / IP / recorded product?
What is a minimum or maximum run-time for an Arts Showcase project?
Projects should fit within 15m, 30m, 60m, or 90m time blocks. Flexibility is possible, and we invite applicants to exercise creativity.
In the event that COVID "zone" designations preclude recording at a particular venue, would WCNY consider filming at an alternative location?
Yes - within the Arts Showcase county regions.
When will the program begin?
The Arts Showcase 2021 program is still in the preliminary stages of development. CNY Arts is only accepting Letters of Interest currently, to better assess potential engagement and scope.
