ADIRONDACK LAKES CENTER FOR THE ARTS is looking for qualified artists working in all media 
to apply for solo or group shows in 2022. 
The organization will host solo and/or group exhibits through the spring & summer 
seasons beginning in late June 2022 through mid-October 2022.




Submission deadline: FEBRUARY 28, 2022
Submission Fee is $45 ($35 for Arts Center members)

Selection process will be completed by March 25, 2022, with acceptance notifications sent via email.

NYS Teaching Artist Mentorship Program - Applications Now Open through 12/10 at 6pm ET

The NYC Arts in Education Roundtable is proud to launch the New York State Teaching Artist Mentorship Program. This regrant opportunity seeks to proactively help mid-career Teaching Artists from across the state develop the networks, skills, and increased capacities necessary to support career advancement and sustainability.  The program is supported with funds from the New York State Council on the Arts.

The formalized program will pair 14 mid-career Teaching Artists from communities historically underrepresented in the arts education field with a mentor educator or arts leader. Each participating Teaching Artist will be given $2,200 to support their participation in the program.

About the artwork: Artwork should represent healing through nature and lend a sense of calm and peace to Upstate’s Nappi Wellness Institute. The interior of the building will have walls covered with stylized plants; surfaces that look like wood; and colors of sky, plants, and earth. Submissions should complement the interior design of the building. Preference will be given to NYS artists, particularly those from Upstate’s 17-county service area.

About the Nappi Wellness Institute: The Nappi Wellness Institute at Upstate Medical University (located in Syracuse, New York) is our new five floor, nearly 210,000 square foot health and wellness complex set to open in early 2023.  Our newest ambulatory center will offer adult and pediatric primary care services, specialty primary care through our Center for International Health (refugee) and Inclusive Health Services (LGBTQ+), be home to our Joslin Diabetes Center and Upstate Geriatrics, create new space for Behavioral Health, and offer additional services in radiology, lab, and pharmacy.  This will also be the first WELL Certified building in Central New York, reflecting our continued focus to patient and staff wellbeing.

 The NYS Choreographers' Initiative is a program of The New York State DanceForce, in partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA).


An Artist Residency Program in the heart of America’s industrial core, apply by January 15 2022 for this uniquely sculpture-centric program.

SCULPTURE SPACE - a residency for Sculptors- located in Utica, New York, invites artists whose main practice is sculpture to apply for a two-month artist residency. We offer a 5,500 square foot shared studio with specialized equipment outfitted with concrete floors, a two ton system of traveling hoists, and extra wide overhead doors, and is a rare space to work big. and six private studios. Housing is provided a block away featuring private bedrooms, washer/dryer, wifi internet, shared living space and kitchen. There is no cost to selected artists and a small stipend is provided.

Forty-five years ago Sculpture Space found its roots in the industrial Utica Steam Engine & Boiler Works manufacturing facility. A small group of artists, compelled by a vision of space for sculptors to experiment and grow their voices, outfitted this factory with industrial equipment to create massive sculptures. The studio and residence are located in an eclectic, diverse neighborhood - close to downtown Utica, and situated in Central New York's Mohawk Valley region.

Far from the grease and machines of its past, Sculpture Space has over 650 alumni sculptors from around the world. The collaborative environment of the studio and communal aspects of the residence helps foster dialogue, exchange of ideas, creative experimentation and both personal and professional connections.


This program invites twenty artists a year and is open to applications from sculptors in all mediums and sizes. We seek applicants whose experiences will broaden diversity in the field, including those who have a personal history of overcoming adversity, are first-generation college or graduate-school attendees. This is a blind review and acceptance is based solely on quality of work reviewed, and the creativity of proposals.


Jean Shin is recognized for her site-specific installations that transform everyday objects into elegant expressions of identity and community engagement. Her work is distinguished by her labor-intensive process and immersive environments that capture collective issues that we face as a society.

Phillip Mallory Jones is internationally recognized as an innovator and educator in the media arts, with a career spanning more than half a century. From vacuum tubes and tape splices, to synthetic reality. Jones synthesizes what he terms the "realities of African culture and my own emotional and metaphysical odyssey."

CALL TO ARTISTS for AIDS Education:  Poster Design Competition

The Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester (MAG) in partnership with the University of Rochester’s River Campus Libraries (RCL) invites New York State artists to submit their original poster designs to a juried poster competition as part of the upcoming exhibition

Up Against the Wall: Art, Activism, and the AIDS Poster, on view March 6 – June 19, 2022.

Up Against the Wall is the first major major exhibition and catalog devoted to the University of Rochester’s collection of HIV/AIDS-related posters. Donated by physician and medical historian Dr. Edward C. Atwater, these posters, one of the largest such collections in the world, document efforts by various groups to educate and inform people from over 130 countries in over 75 languages about this devastating disease. The posters span from 1982 to the present and show how social, religious, civic, and public health agencies have addressed the controversial, often contested, terrain of the HIV/AIDS pandemic within the public realm. The posters have carefully tailored messages that address different groups, and depending on their intended audiences, use scare tactics, simple scientific explanations, sexual imagery, and even humor to get their messages across.


The competition is open to artists in New York State over the age of 14. Submissions can be made HERE and will be accepted from November 17, 2021 – January 30, 2022.

We encourage artists to submit original poster designs that help raise awareness of the epidemic and open up the conversation on HIV/AIDS, using varying methods of communication, design, and messaging. The University of Rochester’s collection of AIDS posters is 8,000 large and represents a rich tradition of graphic design, visual culture, and public health in which to find inspiration.

  • First Place: The winning poster will be exhibited at MAG and added to RCL’s Atwater AIDS Education Poster Collection. DKT International, one of the largest providers for HIV/AIDS prevention in the world and a sponsor of the exhibition, will distribute the winning poster globally and through its social media network, The first-place winner will also receive a $500 cash award.

In partnership with ArtHouse Alliance, the Le Moyne College Arts Administration Program is pleased to once again offer an Arts Administration Fellowship.

This merit-based fellowship is for a full-time student pursuing an M.S. in Arts Administration at Le Moyne. Preference for this position will be given to students from diverse backgrounds. The recipient of the fellowship will receive a $10,000 stipend for their work during Spring 2022 & Summer 2022. Preference will be given to students who apply for the fellowship by December 1.

2022 NYS Choreographer's Initiative - A program of DanceForce, a NYSCA Partner - Grant application portal opens November 1, 2021. Deadline is January 5, 2022, 11:50 pm EDT - NYSCI is designed to help individual choreographers, in all genres, develop their choreographic skills by providing them with resources that are generally unavailable or unaffordable. These resources include a $2,500 stipend, a minimum of 24 hours of creative time with professional dancers, and the guidance of a mentor, of their own choice. Each project is basically a mini-residency, designed to fit the specific needs of each artist.

The American Academy in Rome (Italy) is accepting applications for a Rome Prize Fellowship in Design, Historic Preservation and Conservation, Literature, Musical Composition, Visual Arts, Ancient Studies, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Medieval Studies, Modern Italian Studies, & Renaissance and Early Modern Studies. Deadline is November 1, 2021, extended deadline of Nov. 15, 2021 for an additional fee.

The Riverside Artisans on Oswego is offering incentives to new full members who will participate in management of the business and share staffing responsibilities by working a limited number of hours in the shop. The cooperative is waiving the charge for new full members to join the organization to encourage new people to consider membership.  The cooperative is also reducing the initial monthly fees to less than half their normal level to make it easier for new members to become established and build their sales.

The cooperative has two basic membership levels.  Full members contribute to the financial management of the store, as well as working in the store for four to six 4- hour shifts a month.  They share the profits of the business and pay a low commission on their sales. Consignment members have no direct role in
management of the store and pay a higher commission on their sales.

Calls for Entry from View Arts Center, Old Forge, NY:

  • This year, we will introduce a new component to the annual Quilt Exhibit in conjunction with the Holiday Season. We are calling for Artisan Ornaments that will be displayed in the lobby at View, with all ornaments priced at $14 each. View will retain a 35% Commission on all ornaments sold. Ornaments will be accepted starting Sept 20, 2021 and will be on display through January 8, 2021.   • We invite artists to create a logo for our upcoming “Winter in Action” exhibit, which celebrates winter sports and activities in the Northeast. This exhibit is an invitational exhibit and will feature select artists from across the Northeast. The logo should reflect the theme of the exhibition.

Kirkland Art Center Announces 2022 Artist-In-Residence Program in Partnership with the Garret on the Green

The Kirkland Art Center in Clinton, NY announced open applications for their 2022 Artist-in-Residence programs, a partnership with local retreat and residency space The Garret on the Green. Applications will be open on both the Kirkland Art Center and the Garret on the Green websites through November 10, 2021.

Three emerging artists will be selected for solo week-long residencies in January and February 2022, which include an unrestricted $500 stipendIn addition, a new residency in May 2022 will cater specifically to musicians, including a promoted concert at the KAC’s historic venue.

 “We added the Community Music Residency this year in memory of two long-time volunteers in the KAC live music program, Ginger Parker and Tom Bell,” says Damhnait McHugh, president of the Kirkland Art Center board. “They both understood the way music can bring communities together, and we’re looking forward to continuing that legacy by offering time, space, and funds for performing musicians to develop their craft.”

All selected artists will stay at the Garret and work in a studio space four doors down at the Kirkland Art Center.

“These programs began as a response to the time constraints and barriers to institutional support that emerging artists often face, and we try to improve them a little every year” says Nora Revenaugh, co-owner of The Garret on the Green and member of local band The Boom Chickens. “Having a day job or caregiving responsibilities keeps so many talented artists out of programs that require longer stays or a large financial commitment, and these short, funded residencies are designed with those artists in mind.”

Last year’s residents received a warm welcome from the village of Clinton as well, with donated meals and gifts from Nola’s, The Cremeria, Utica Coffee, The Compound, and Almost Local.
