On the First Friday of every month the Cortland Free Library Celebrates Art and the Artists in our Community with the Cultural Council of Cortland County. We invite artists to talk about their works on display and we invite musicians to entertain us as well, giving us both auditory and a visual sensory excitement. Our goal is to create community by gathering our community members together in a time of celebration and joy in the hope that this will allow us to be a more resilient and sustainable community.

The Library has extended hours on the First Friday of every month when art is being displayed. We will be open until 8 p.m. Exhibits will be displayed for the month. Check the library website for more information.

The Cortland Free Library received a grant from CNY Arts to support the art and artists who participate in our First Friday program. We call it our First Friday Enhancement Grant project. This project is made possible in part with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by CNY Arts.
