June 2018 Art in the Library exhibit

For the month of June, the Community Library of DeWitt & Jamesville’s Art in the Library features local artist Shawn Gilmore

Much of Gilmore’s work is made from common house paint, both latex and oil. The process of layering makes each one different and creates depth. These pieces, both small and very large scale, can become very heavy as a result of his technique.

“The idea of creating art from old materials has always helped me shape the work I do,” said Gilmore.

Born in CNY, Gilmore attended LeMoyne College and has worked in furniture retail as the owner of Johnny Appleseed Farm and currently Route 20 Sofa Company. He work has been shown in various art shows, including the Gear Factory. He works out of a studio in Nelson, NY.

See his art at the Community Library now through the end of June.
