Highway 1, USA a one act American opera written by William Grant Still who is considered the Dean of African American Composers. Bob and Mary support Bob’s nephew, Nate as he attends college. The couple has made great sacrifices supporting the ungrateful, Nate. Bob tells Mary they must continue to support Nate after his graduation until he finds his place in the world. Mary is determined to expose Nate to Bob as the ingrate he really is. The opera will keep you on the edge of your seats and the shocking ending is gripping. The cast includes young American singers from the Metropolitan Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago and regional companies throughout America. Chorus and supporting roles are filled with talented local Syracuse artists.
