Auburn Museum Announces Full Roster of Programs for "Solar Eclipse Weekend"

The Cayuga Museum of History and Art in Auburn has officially announced a full weekend of programs and events to be held during the first weekend of April, leading up to the April 8 total solar eclipse that will cover much of Upstate New York. Come out and celebrate this once-in-a-lifetime event!

First Friday

Cayuga Museum

Activities for the whole family, including making your own pinhole viewer and eclipse models while you explore the museum for free.

Lunchtime Lecture: "Once in a Lifetime"
Saturday, April 6
12 PM - 1 PM
Carriage House Theater

Join Cayuga Museum Curator Haley Boothe for an eclipse weekend presentation to learn more about solar eclipses, the Case Research Lab, and more! Admission is free, although donations are greatly appreciated.

1920s Eclipse Party Fundraiser
Saturday, April 6

Cayuga Museum Galleries

Come out and enjoy hors d’oeuvres, a beer and wine bar, and jazz music as you explore the Cayuga Museum in all your 1920s glamour. Best costume wins a special prize! Tickets are $50 for Cayuga Museum Members, $60 for General Admission. 

STEAM Fair
Sunday, April 7

Carriage House Theater

Science, history, and art collide in the Cayuga Museum’s first ever STEAM Fair! Join us for an afternoon exploring eclipses and astronomy through a diverse variety of activity stations featuring organizations across Central New York and the Finger Lakes. This program is free and open to the public, although donations are greatly appreciated.


Eclipse Viewing
Monday, April 8
12 PM - 4 PM
Phoenix Building

Join us for a unique viewing experience on the roof of the iconic Phoenix Building, right next to where Case recorded the eclipse in 1925, and one of the highest points in the city. Reservations are $250 per person and are required to attend as space is very limited.

All-inclusive passes of $275 are available for purchase on the Museum’s website  to receive access to all paid events during the weekend, including the 1920s party and Monday viewing event atop the Phoenix Building. Passes are very limited as space for the viewing event is restricted.
